By using stdnotes, you agree to these terms. They are written plainly, but they still form an agreement between you and stdnotes.
Using stdnotes
stdnotes provides local and cloud note-taking tools, including rich text, Markdown, Canvas notes, organization, search, sharing, image uploads, version history, and export features. You may use the local app without an account. Cloud sync, sharing, billing, and some storage features require signing in.
Accounts
You are responsible for the Google account you use to sign in and for activity under your stdnotes account. Keep your account secure and tell us if you believe it has been misused. We do not store your Google password.
Your Content
You keep ownership of the notes, images, drawings, folders, and other content you create or upload. You give stdnotes the limited permission needed to store, process, display, sync, export, and share that content only so we can provide the service and features you choose to use.
Public Sharing
If you enable public sharing, people with the link may be able to view the shared note without an account. You are responsible for what you share, who receives the link, and whether you use optional protections such as passwords, expiry dates, or custom slugs. You can revoke a share link from the app.
Acceptable Use
Use stdnotes lawfully and responsibly. You agree not to:
- Store, upload, publish, or share content that is illegal, abusive, exploitative, or violates others’ rights
- Use the service to harass, spam, phish, defraud, impersonate, or distribute malware
- Probe, overload, bypass, disrupt, or interfere with stdnotes systems or security controls
- Use automated access in a way that harms reliability or exceeds reasonable personal use
- Violate applicable laws, regulations, or third-party rights
Paid Plans & Billing
Paid plans are processed through Stripe or Lemon Squeezy. Prices, billing intervals, taxes, and checkout details are shown before you subscribe. Subscriptions renew until cancelled. If you cancel, paid access continues until the end of the current billing period unless the checkout provider states otherwise. Refunds are handled case by case unless required by law or the payment provider’s rules.
Availability & Backups
stdnotes is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We aim to keep the service reliable, but we do not promise uninterrupted access, permanent storage, or error-free operation. You should keep your own exports or backups of important notes.
Changes to Features
We may add, change, limit, suspend, or remove features, plans, storage limits, or integrations as the product evolves. When practical, we will try to avoid changes that materially disrupt existing users without notice.
Suspension & Termination
We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms, create legal or security risk, misuse the service, or fail to pay for a paid plan. You may stop using stdnotes at any time and can contact us to request account deletion.
Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, stdnotes disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, and data integrity. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so some of this section may not apply to you.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, stdnotes is not liable for:
- Loss, corruption, deletion, or disclosure of data or content
- Service outages, delays, bugs, or interruptions
- Billing provider, infrastructure provider, or third-party service failures
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as stdnotes changes. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
